The Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 is a four-wheel drive car produced in 200 units necessary for type-approval in Group B. With the EVO versions, the French participated in the World Rally Championships from 1984 to 1986, winning two constructors' titles and two drivers' titles. The engine is a 4-cylinder in line with a displacement of 1,779 cm³, the distribution is two-cylinder with a 16-valve head, it is supercharged by a KKK turbocharger with a maximum pressure of 0.7 bar, for a power of 200 hp at 6,750 rpm, is placed transversely behind the passenger and is tilted backwards by 20° while behind the pilot is placed the intercooler to cool the air coming from the turbo and intended for the intake manifolds thanks to the large side air intake. The gearbox is a 5-speed aligned to the crankshaft, which is located just behind the driver's seat, has a clear sporty inspiration with short lever and close-up clutches. This berlinetta reaches a top speed of 209 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds. Traction is guaranteed by a 4x4 system combined with three self-locking differentials, including the central epicycloidal one, with traction distributed 34% at the front and 66% at the rear. Peugeot had also introduced a further innovation by adopting for the central differential a Ferguson box that ensures the progressive slippage of one axis compared to the other according to the conditions of adherence, thus ensuring a homogeneous traction between the two axle.
