FORD SIERRA COSWORTH

After making his debut in the world championship as a privateer with a Renault 5 Turbo in the 1984 Corsica Rally (withdrawal due to a turbo problem), Didier won the French national championship in 1986 with a MG Metro 6R4 and was therefore given a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth for the Corsica and Italian rallies, valid for the 1987 world championship. Here the former ambulance driver amazes everyone by managing to finish eighth in France and even fourth in Italy, obtaining better results, with the same car, even than a young one promise who would then become one of the Frenchman's rivals in the following years: Carlos Sainz. From the early years of his career, Didier will be considered an asphalt specialist, given that he often achieves better results on this surface.

Car produced in December 1986 and sold by Ford Motorsport Company Limited in January 1987 to Ford France SA for the R.E.D. team. UK with license plate 6985 PM 92 with which Didier Auriol raced and won the French championship in '87.

At the end of the 1988 season chassis number 30311 was sent back to Red UK.

Rebuilt by Pete Doughty, in the same configuration and livery as the 1987 season (33 EXPORT), it took part in the 1991 Mazda Winter Rally.

Pete used the British C236 HVW registration number of his previous car to take part in a few rallies before selling it to Fenwick Stuart who raced the car in spectacular fashion at the 1991 Condroz Rally, again with the same C236 HVW registration and seasonal colors 1987 (33 EXPORTS).

Today, car 30311 has original documents and the English license plate D299 UUJ. All original documents are present.
